Following the recent Government announcement that Devon is to enter Tier 3 as of 00:01 on 31st December 2020, we are sorry to announce that Axminster Heritage Centre will be closed to the public from Thursday 31st December 2020 until further notice.
As always, our immediate priority is the health and welfare of our volunteers and visitors and it is to you that we would like to express our gratitude. Axminster Heritage Centre is a community museum at heart, and it is this community that has supported and encouraged us throughout 2020. Closing our doors once more is both difficult and disheartening but at the same time a necessity to help the Government halt the spread of this deadly new strain of Coronavirus.
Centre Manager, Nigel Sadler, “We had been planning for the best and were looking forward to welcoming local residents into the Centre for free on December 31st. I am disappointed that we are ending this year and beginning a new one with conditions such as this, but rest assured that as soon as it is safe to do so we will once again be welcoming you all back to the museum.”
While the museum doors will sadly be remaining closed, our virtual doors will be open online as we aim to continue to connect with our audiences via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Museums have a unique role to play within their local communities and our aim is to continue to entertain and inspire you by providing interesting and engaging content via our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
