Come along to Kilmington Cricket ground to explore the summer night sky with qualified astronomer Dougal Syers and a telescope. With East Devon offering relatively ‘dark’ skies you could see objects like distant galaxies, star-forming regions and dying stars as well as the Moon, Jupiter and Venus.
As you’ll arrive in the light you’ll be able to familiarise yourself with what’s underfoot , becoming slowly ‘dark adapted’ and ready for stargazing. Given clear skies you may also see safe views of the sun before it sets using Dougal’s special ‘hydrogen alpha’ solar telescope.
Bring your own torch and binoculars. Hot drinks available .
£10 per person or £15 per family of 2 adults and their children .
